Ad Group - A group of keywords and ads within a campaign of a PPC program.
Affiliate - This is what you call an advertiser who refers someone to sign up for an offer for a commission. When you promote the ringtones offer, you are an affiliate of the company who does the ringtone offer.
Content Network Vs. Search Network - Search Network ads are sponsored search results when someone runs a search on a search engine. Content network ads are sponsored ads displayed on websites (not search engines).
CTR - Click Through Rate. This is expressed as a percent. A CTR of 10% would mean that a link is clicked 10% of the time it is displayed.
DP - Stands for Digital Point forums. This is one of the biggest webmaster forums on the net.
eCPC - Effective Comission Per Click. An estimate of how much you earn per Tracking URL click. If 13 people click on your Tracking URL, one person signs up, and you get $13.00, your eCPC will be $1.00.
Keywords - This is the word that is searched for on the search engine. “Ringtones” and “Get Ringtones Now” are two different keywords.
Landing Page - This has two meanings. 1: This is your web page that people land on when they click your ad on Yahoo or Google. 2: This is the page that people land on when they click on the links on your web page.
Lead - If someone clicks on your Tracking URL link and signs up to the offer, this is called a “Lead”.
Max Bid - In PPC programs, advertisers set a maximum amount of money they are willing to pay per click. Every time someone does a search (on Yahoo, Google, etc) there is an instant bidding war between everyone bidding on that keyword.
Niche - A specific market region. Examples of niches are: Ringtones, Online Dating, Auto Loans, etc.
PPC - Stands for “Pay Per Click”. This is the form of advertising where the advertiser pays a certian fee for every click their ad gets. For example, go to Yahoo and run a search. Notice the “Sponsored Listings”? These advertisers pay Yahoo a certian fee every time a visitor clicks on their ad.
ROI - Return on Investment or Return over Investment. This is your profit divided by your investment. If I pay $100 on advertising, and I make $175 from leads, my profit would be $75, and my ROI would be 75%. An ROI of 100% would mean you doubled your money. An ROI of 200% would mean you trippled your money.
Tracking URL - The unique URL that you get from AzoogleAds, which directs visitors to sign up for an offer (such as ringtones), which credits you if the visitor successfully signs up to the offer.
